.sometimes we think we know everything, or everyone…
((MY FRIEND ON THIS PICTURE HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS POST)) ❤ beautiful girl!
You can have many friends, and then you have Friends (with the big F). They are usually a smaller group of people that you meet during your life, some stay only for a while and some stay for ever. But regardless, they are Friends. You can trust them at anytime and you both know that whatever happens you will be there for each other. The many other friends you have can be people from school, from your hometown, neighbors, colleagues, friends of friends or Facebook friends (which today can include basically anyone). And sometimes there’s a fine line between these friends. But in the end it all comes down to trust.
It’s good that social media is helping people to connect and it’s in many ways sooooooo smart and great. Opening up opportunities that didn’t even exist some years ago. But I think it’s important to remember that, the more you open up you also have to remember who you are. It’s so easy to get lost. Being with your friends, talking, sharing emotions and thoughts, experiencing something together can never be measured with chatting online. When you don’t have a choice because you’re too far away – then again – it’s amazing what todays technique can do. But when we meet, lets be with each other!
.and fuck that phone!
I had a friend, we knew each other from working together. So actually we were colleagues. We spend a lot of time very closely for a long period. And we went from being colleagues to friends. And we tried to help each other whenever we could. One time I made a sacrifice for her to help her out. And she told me that she was forever grateful and that she would do the same for me, and I really believed that. And of course I hoped I never would end up in a situation where I would need that from her. But then much later it came to a situation where I really did… a situation where I actually had no one else. And she couldn’t do it. She wouldn’t do it. And she didn’t need to do much, just being there. It was obvious, and I didn’t want to have to ask for her help. If she was my friend I wouldn’t have to ask her. And I didn’t want her help if she didn’t want to give it.
It made me disappointed and I felt a little bit “fooled” but at the same time I learned that what you do for some people around you – they might never do for you. And that’s just the way it is. That’s also a good way of seeing a persons character. Today she isn’t my friend, she is an old colleague. Yes I was very disappointed at her, but it also showed me that she wasn’t suppose to be one of my Friends that I would keep close. And don’t get me wrong, sometimes your Friends actually can’t help you, even when they want to – it doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be your Friends. But this was a very obvious situation where she only needed to be a support.
What I want to say is – keep your good Friends close to you. They don’t grow on trees. Treat them well, love them, appreciate them and give them the attention they deserve when you meet.
.put that phone down.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Messenger, Whatsapp or whatever it is will never be more important than your good Friend sitting in front of you.
